Are there any psychiatrist prescribing memantine for adult add & Rx stimulate tolerance, PTSD, Anxiety? I have read that some psychiatrist have been treating their patients with this medication for the last 6-7 years with huge success. If you do know any psychiatrist using this drug therapy (especially the midwest, i live in SE Illinois) Please please let me know. Thank you!!

I’ve read that this drug interacts with metformin. Does it interact with Berberine?

In your article, you state “Memantine works differently by blocking NMDA receptors, making it the only drug in its class [2].” What about Amantadine? It is also also blocks NMDA receptors. How would you compare the action of these drugs? We are considering it for our son with PANDAS – for his ADHD like symptoms. Thank you

Hi Gabi,

It appears magnesium has been shown to block NMDA receptors: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9264101 There is also a peptide called histogranin that has been shown to block these receptors as well: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/9175901/
