Steve is completely wrong. They are completely different strains. Acidophilus is often considered the useless probiotic. It can cause increase in weight. A simple google search will show you the difference between the two.

BTW Who cares about weight loss! According to clinical studies, L. Gasseri (and L. Crispatus) are cytotoxic to HPV infected cells, and are directly connected with rapid clearing of visible HPV infections. Not surprisingly, finding a probiotic containing L. Gasseri is difficult in the EU. Not even the best probiotic from New Zealand contains it!

It’s the specific strain that is isolated, which could have different properties. We report what the studies find. It’s not the same species as far as we are concerned. Please share a good source that it is the same species and we will take a look.

ACIDOPHILUS. Scientists renamed L. Acidophilus with this “new name” for no decent reason, when people have been calling this precise species of probiotic “Acidophilus”, both scientifically and in common speech, for a hundred years.

To write an article about this without naming its MORE COMMON name is irresponsible.
