I take lost of vitamin and have achieved normal blood tests as a result, EXCEPT copper and ceruloplasmin. I have taken as much as 40 mg/day of copper AND had copper infusions and my copper and ceruloplasmin levels keep dropping. They are now 47 and 11 respectively. My HGB, HCT, WBC, RBC and platelets are fine. So is my B-12. I only take 50 mg of zinc every fourth day.

Any ideas?

I have high copper in serum and almost normal CP, but I still feel that zinc in isolation is very bad for my eyes. I had Graves disease about six years ago after taking high doses of ascorbic acid and exposure to high amounts of zinc in a hair care line. I know many people on the Pyroluria programs who feel terrible – -they are calmer but they have no energy . They feel “flat.”

Many are demonizing copper but i too had good results with 2 to 4 mg a day like vision improvement, more alertness, hair improvement and skin. The best of all joint improvement. For the last 1 year i was taking 5 to15 mg of zinc a day and sometimes copper in between but my vision deteriorated and generally did not feel good. Then i stopped zinc and used copper everyday andsometimes take zinc 2 times a week and i feel way better. Many of my client also have good results with copper.

I progressively got worse and worse with indescribable symptoms of weakness and agony. A lightbulb switched on and I tried colloidal copper. Within half an hour a rush of relaxation swept over me and I cried finally being rid of the pain in my body. I take copper regularly now. Boosts my energy and sleep.

Lots of different things – maybe you are overhydrated, or some hormones that excrete more sodium are high etc. If your doctor orders it and doesn’t flag it, most likely there is no major problem.

A search for “serum sodium” and related queries does not find anything. The Lab Test Reference Guide, which I just downloaded and searched, does not include serum sodium levels. My sodium is slightly low at 134 mEq/L. Where would I find out what this means?

I don’t really know myself. I am a little bit insecure because so many people are demonizing it. I had strong improvements with 2mg copper glycinate a day.
From what I heard, it should be a chelated copper, since inorganic copper is supposed to be either not well absorbed or even wrecking havoc as a free radical.
I saw a bunch of studies which where proposing the idea that small deficiencies in copper are quite common since most people don’t get enough.
Another study came to the conclusion that a deficiency was not cured over a six month period, when overall intake was below 2.6mg a day.

Probably it would be best to eat liver every other day. But who wants that?

Do you mind sharing how much you supplemented and for how long? I’m having a difficult time finding a Doctor who is knowledgable about copper deficiency and how to correct it.

i got the same impression of certain people. Doesn’t matter what you suffer from, their copper toxicity symptoms catalogue is so huge, you definetly fit right in there.
I too had a deficiency in whole blood sample. Supplementing copper was good for mood and sleep.

I’m also interested in hearing more on this topic. I recently saw a naturopath who immediately concluded that I was severely copper toxic, yet after running numerous tests, everything points to deficiency. I wouldn’t be surprised if copper toxicity is a diagnosis he hands out quite frequently, despite the fact that true toxicity is rare.

I am sure you are aware of that alternative health “fad”, that a lot of people allegedly have hidden copper toxicity. Like the blood levels can be actual quite normal, but in fact unbound copper is all over in your tissues causing damage, and at the same time, you are actually deficient and get deficiency symptoms as well – because most copper in your blood is allegedly dangerous and unbound and only few is bioavailable ceruloplasmin.

I would like to hear your take on this. I think it’s rather far fetched resp. it sounds a little bit like those genetic deseases where transport protein is broken. But those deseases are really rare and it can’t be that a dysregulation has the same effect, does it?
