The Internet has many suppliers of Ceylon Cinnamon with larger amounts at cheaper prices which also are organic! I love cinnamon but I have to protect my liver so I was happy to learn about Ceylon Cinnamon! I also have lupus and was glad to learn it helps my immune system! Thanks!

Sri Lanka, a small Asian country known as Ceylon until the commonwealth. Cinnamon produced from Ceylon is known as Ceylon cinnamon.

Ceylon cinnamon is rare. It is less than 8% of total world production of cinnamon, including cassia.

This post makes Cinnamon sound great, but since it is in the lectin category should we minimize and is the higher quality species less of an issue for lectin intolerance?

To make your site even more useful and complete, I would suggest that you mention contraindications as well for any herb or supplement.

For example, cinnamon has contraindications as mentioned here:
http://www.botanical-online.com/english/cinnamon-contraindications.htm

And, the amount of oxalate in cinnamon is close to 18 mg/g, making it unwise to consume daily in amounts higher than maybe 1-2 g.

Several other herbs are also high in oxalates, for ex. dried turmeric, at 35 mg/g.

Thanks for taking these considerations into account!

How do you check if you have a good source of Ceylon Cinnamon? For instance, the picture in the article shows ceylon sticks with some mold :P. Is this a big issue for cinnamon? Thanks
